A squirrel's diet is not just nuts and food that humans eliminate. Their diet is full of something more important such as tree barks, roots, acorns, leaves and also some small insects. Squirrels collect food year-round, but they will be more active inside their food collecting process inside the fall ahead of winter months. This is done as being a measure to get food available inside winter when the meals is not as all to easy to get. The squirrel will bury the food are available time for it after the winter hibernation period has ended. The food stored will most likely go far enough to maintain the squirrel until new food sources are located.
