A squirrel's meals are not only nuts and food that humans eliminate. Their weight loss program is full of different things such as tree barks, roots, acorns, leaves and even some small insects. Some squirrels cannot stop working foods like cellulose which means that they are able to ignore tree bark being a meal source altogether.

Squirrels collect food year-round, but they will be more active within their food collecting process inside the fall just before winter months. This is done being a measure to get food available inside the winter once the food is not as an easy task to get. The squirrel will bury the food and are avalable time for it after the wintertime hibernation period is finished. The food stored in most cases go very far enough to help keep the squirrel until new food sources are normally found.
